So if it’s concrete, you might learn to calculate rebar and steel weights, or how to calculate the weight of 6 yards of concrete - just examples. basically as a drafter - you have to learn everything about what you are drawing. If you end up drawing millwork, the CAD part is only part of it - you have to learn how to build things, sizes of materials, industry terminology, understand how to read architectural plans, etc. Depending on what sort of job you land will kind of dictate how you use the software.īut, you can literally design anything with AutoCAD and build a nice set of construction documents.
